Some of us here at Siren Media Marketing have a Love/Hate relationship with Facebook, while some others here defend this Social Media Platform and its value in for Social Media Marketing.
Facebook has seemed to take a stumble with the reports in the news about drops in share prices. It was also recently reported that Facebook has millions of bogus accounts set up. The constant changes and tweaks that seem to frustrate. No question, for some the polish as definitely worn off.
But one cannot deny, that more and more businesses are going for the inexpensive way of setting up a Facebook Fan page to build their business. We have so many requests for this type of set-up. Especially for start-ups with limited budgets. We just emphasis to our clients that Facebook is a great tool in conjunction with other tools, and not necessarily on its own.
With the additions of Social Media tools as Pinterest, and Twitter. Facebook has consistently attempted to improve. Most recently with their Post Publisher.
Here is the specific announcement one Facebook page admin received from a Facebook rep:
“Today, we will start rolling out an enhanced version of Page Post Targeting to a small percentage of Page Admins. Over the next few weeks, this will become available to all pages.
With this new feature, Pages can now target their posts to certain fans in the news feed who meet specific criteria such as age, gender, location, language, etc. All content will still remain on the Page since this is the only way to allow friends of engaged fans who don’t meet the targeting criteria to see viral stories (i.e. David likes a post.. )”
As previously mentioned. this is rolling out today August 7. 2012.

Facebook Page Posts are free and not to be confused with Facebook Promoted Posts. Both types of Posts can be used together to push your Product, Service, or Brand even more.

Today is the roll out for new posts options that target specific demographics. This is great as options for organic Facebook content.
Now with this roll out of even more demographic targeting tools, this makes marketing options even more specific. This is great news.
A few of us around here have not seen these changes yet on our pages that we manage, but rumor has it that it will be rolled out to all admins.
The new page targeting options include:
- Interested In
- Relationship Status
This opens up great options for brand’s who want to target certain segments of their audience when marketing their message.
When you make you selections from the new list a feature will display how many fans that particular post is targeted to .
This also makes Promoted Posts an even more powerful marketing tool.
The video that we are including is related to the Facebook posting feature but was made before the expansion of the additional features that are due to roll out today.
Although the video only includes the Location and Language choices. This will familiarize those that are not already aware of how the feature presently is utilized, and how the expansion will fit.
